“Oh, you’re so lucky to be able to …”
Not really. I made a choice. Once I made the choice I went about figuring out how to make it happen. I’m not afraid of hard work so…
“How do you find the time to …?”
Simple. I don’t watch the news. I don’t read a newspaper. I don’t watch reality TV. I don’t own a Wii. The only time I listen to the radio is if I’m listening to music. I try not to waste time on activities that would keep me from achieving my goals. I spend countless hours thinking about what’s next and how I’m going to get there. I continually make choices that help me find the time to do what it is I want and need to do.
It’s amazing how I am able to keep up to date with current events in spite of my choice not to read a paper or watch the news.
In reality, we are an easily distracted species. Throughout time there have been plenty of things to keep us from reaching our true potential. Think about it. Do you know how much someone could have accomplished if they hadn’t sat around arguing about how many angels dance on the head of a pin? Why, penicillin might have been discovered decades earlier.
If you truly want success, you first have to choose it. You have to choose success and accomplishment over the myriad of distractions that would keep you from it.
You have to choose and keep choosing, every moment of every day.
It’s not about luck. It’s about choice.
